The excellence of the teaching staff and the quality of the laboratory infrastructure were key to my development as a scientist, with an emphasis on Microbial Ecophysiology. Through the Program, I completed a PDSE/CAPES sandwich doctorate at the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW), an experience that broadened my scientific and international training. The program also encourages a vision of innovation and entrepreneurship, culminating in my winning the InovaNorte hackathon. Doing high-impact science in Brazil is a challenge, but my training at the PGBV gave me the tools I needed to excel. During my master's and doctorate, the subjects were always oriented towards solving real problems, which strengthened my critical and applied training. I am deeply grateful for the Note 10 scholarship and for the opportunity to do part of my doctorate in the United States, the result of a solid partnership between PGBV, FAPERJ and CAPES. At the PGBV, I was able to really discover myself as a researcher, finding in the Cannabis sativa the object of study that dominated my heart. During my PhD in Plant Biotechnology, I acquired valuable knowledge, especially in bioinformatics and functional genomics. The PPGBV is part of my professional life. After completing my doctorate, I did a post-doctoral internship in Ireland and currently work as a visiting professor at the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD), MS, Brazil. I am deeply grateful to the PPGBV, to UENF and, in particular, to my advisor, Professor Antônio Amaral, for the support and excellent training I received.

This training enabled me to complete my doctorate with the filing of the patent "Nanoemulsion larvicide based on jatropha oil".

The PPGBV was crucial to my professional career, mainly because it provided me with super multidisciplinary and up-to-date training for the job market and the various areas we can work in.

The PPGBV has been part of my postgraduate life as a master's and doctoral student. I was able to enjoy all the aspects that the program offers, carrying out practical research, extension and teaching experiences. A great feature of the program is that it offers different career options and, for me, the option of undertaking research was the one that sparked my interest. This combination of research and entrepreneurship allowed me to be approved for FAPERJ's Doctor Entrepreneur program and to start the biotechnology startup that I manage today.

The PGBV allowed me to visualize other paths that postgraduates can take at the end of their academic career. The training I received included concepts of starting and running a business that motivated me to become an entrepreneur, and so IMicro-Biotech was born, a biological fertilizer startup that uses innovative, highly efficient technology for agricultural crops.
